Our eye exams are not just about your eyesight, but the health of your whole body.
Regularly having an eye examination ensures that your prescription is still accurate if you already wear glasses, or that your eyesight is strong enough to continue not wearing them. But thanks to advances in optical technology, the benefits to you of having your eyes examined at least once every twelve months are both numerous and very important. At Bottomley Opticians, we aim to provide clinical excellence with the highest quality gold standard diagnostic equipment.
When you see a member of our expert optometrist team for an eye exam, your eyes will be inspected for a number of different eye conditions. These include such serious issues as glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye and macular degeneration. As many of these conditions have no symptoms in the early stages, it is essential that you have regular eye tests so that your optometrist can pick up on and treat any issues at the earliest possible opportunity.
Examination of your eyes can also help in the early diagnosis of other serious health conditions which can affect your entire body. These include glaucoma and stroke, which we can detect using our Zeiss Humphrey visual fields analyser, as well as diabetes and cancer and a range of hereditary conditions. The diagnostic facilities such as our Intelipuff Tonometer, Slit Lamp and Retinal Camera allow us to examine and monitor your eyes with more clarity than ever before.
Many people can benefit from the cost of their eye exam being covered by the NHS. This includes, but is not limited to, children under 16 (or under 19 and in full time education), all adults over 60, diabetics, glaucoma sufferers, or anyone over 40 who has an immediate relative diagnosed with glaucoma. If you are unsure of whether you qualify for an NHS funded eye test, simply ask a member of the Bottomley Opticians staff who will be happy to help.
I started using Bottomley’s when the DVLA referred me to them for a specialist sight test following treatment for retinopathy. I was really impressed with their skills and knowledge having had poor service from other high street opticians.
